The nucleus of Annie’s Army is the Montgomery-Ready family: Annie's wife Anita, and their daughter Hazel & son Gabriel. In early June 2008 Annie was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma. She passed away June 11, 2009.  This website is designed to keep family & friends connected and up to date on how we are doing.

A memorial service for Annie will be held on Sunday, August 2nd at 4pm at the Church of the Ascension on Upper Saranac Lake, followed by a reception at Heron's Landing.  All who would like to attend are welcome.

For directions and or questions, please e-mail Anita's sister, Carolyn Montgomery at katydid125@aol.com.  If you need info about places to stay that are close by, she can also provide you with a short list of those.  For more information on the service, please check the latest post from Anita.

How To Help

Memory Book Submissions

A request to Annie’s Army from Eliza Montgomery Zimmerman- Anita’s sister and  Hazel and Gabe’s Aunt.

With Anita’s blessing I am embarking on a project and I need your help.  To keep Annie/Mommy vivid and close to Hazel and Gabe’s hearts I wanted to compile a book for each child filled with stories about Annie and photos of Annie/Ready Montgomery family.  A little something they can keep all for themselves.

Why do I need your help?

If willing, you will be the story tellers or the keepers of a special photo you would like the children to have.  Since you are on the Annie’s Army list I am sure you have some stories to share about Annie that the children will enjoy.  As you begin to think about these stories and writing them down I respectfully ask you to consider writing them to the children so they keep a personal tone.

Deadline:

I hate deadlines, but I know that a project like this could go on forever- after all, Annie  is worthy of a bazillion pages.  But in the interest of getting these books to Gabe and Hazel before they go to college I would like to complete them by next spring.

Book Format:

I will be using the online book publishing company Book Smart/Blurb.  We have created some pieces for the office and they are a good quality, reliable company.  As I receive your stories/pictures I will begin to enter them into the program.  If you send photos electronically please send them in jpeg format.  The text will have to be manually added so no special formatting is necessary.
